About lavender hair dye

Before we dive in, make sure that what you really wanted is the color lavender. Lavender is interchangeably referred to as the color purple. But although the two tones look almost the same and both are obtained by mixing blue and red, there is a thin line here. A richer tone of blue is what dominates lavender. On the other hand, purple is more diverse as it can be increasingly reddish or bluish. Lavender is a pale variety of purple, to say the least. So saying you want to dye your hair purple can mean all sort of things. It may mean a periwinkle, deep mauve or lilac which are all shades of purple. If the lavender color is more up your alley or perhaps planning to make it as a base to other dyes, make sure the packaging box says so. Otherwise, you are going shades away from your dream color.

This is a look you don’t want to miss ın a lavender shade. One way to rock this look is by throwing in some bright gray on the roots of your hair and fade it slowly by throwing different shades of lavender. Much like the ombre, you can get the look by fading a lavender but this time just on the down the length of your hair, a great coloring technique ıf you have dark roots you want to shine through. If you have the pixie cut, use it to your advantage. A great hairstyle like this deserves a bright and bold lavender. The only issue with this look is the upkeep. A vibrant pop of lavender will eventually leach to a very pale purple over time. A great way to avoid running to a hairstylist when it starts to fade is to mix dye — preferably a darker shade of purple — to your shampoo and conditioner. Besides keeping the touch-ups to a minimum, this is also a great way to add another layer of color to your hairstyle.

Highlights are a go-to if you are not brave enough to go full-head. There a lot of ways to slay this look. If you have a dark hair color as a base to work with, lavender is really perfect but you can also take it to another level by mixing it with bright purple hues like that of mauve and lilac for that subtle boho look. However, if you are feeling that emo punk ride vibe, add an electric shade of purple to your lavender. If you are blonde or lighter on the other hand, pastel and muted tones of lavender are the options you could go to. To save you time, money and effort, and above all get the look that you aim for (unless you want a kaleidoscope of lavender), you will only need to pick one of these two top-rated best lavender hair dye brand.

1. L’Oréal Paris: Feria Pastels Hair Color, P12 Lavender Dusk (Smokey Lavender)

L'Oréal Paris: Feria Pastels Hair Color, P12 Lavender Dusk (Smokey Lavender)

If you have been to the salon to get your hair color done, you probably have been offered a palette of L’Oréal Paris to choose from. L’Oréal Paris boasts of over 130 shades and most of them are highly spoken, particularly by hair colorists and hair care experts. Promising smokey lavender is this P12 Lavender Dusk from L’Oréal Paris’ fine collection of Feria Pastels Hair Color.

The soft, dusty lavender itself is custom-blended by color experts so it will definitely make your hair look like it’s professionally done ( no more expensive salon trips!). It’s best for blonde or lighter but if your hair runs on darker shades, you might want to apply platinum hair color first. And don’t you worry about re-dying your hair with this color because it’s safe for color-treated hair. In fact, unlike other chemical-based dyes out there that only leave your hair feeling burnt (not to mention itching scalp!), this one condition and protects. However, if you are planning to re-dye your hair with this color, we suggest giving your hair a break for at least two weeks as a good rule of thumb. It sounds like a long wait but if you want a hair that’s screaming an ultra-sophistication, it’s worth the wait!

Pros

  • Trusted brand by hair experts
  • Long-lasting
  • Leaves hair conditioned and protected
  • Can be used for color treated hair
  • Suites blonde hair well

Cons

  • Will cost a little bit as compared to other brands
  • Doesn’t work on dark hairs unless pre-lightened

2. ADORE: Semi-Permanent Haircolor #090 Lavender

ADORE: Semi-Permanent Haircolor #090 Lavender

Dying our own hair can get a little bit nerve-racking, considering there are a lot of things that can go wrong along the process. Aside from the basic knowledge on how-to, a good hair dye can also help make everything easy-breezy — like this hair dye from Adore. It is easy to apply, you don’t have to worry about mixing or adding solutions as the formula can be applied directly. Some users also love that they don’t have to use gloves because the dye can be easily rinsed off from your hands. Who thought dying could be this hassle-free?

Because it is semi-permanent, this lavender hair dye from Adore should last you about 9-12 rinsing (although some users claim that the color lasts longer). If you are someone who cannot commit to specific hair color for a long time, this product is also perfect for you. Adore might not be as big as other brands (well not as yet), but they have a growing number of users who swore by their products. In fact, most of their products work just as well as the pricey leading brands, while others claimed they are even better, at least according to most reviews. What’s more to like about Adore? All their dyes are budget-friendly, an exemplification that not all quality brands should be costly.

Pros

  • Quality hair dye
  • Made without ammonia, alcohol, and peroxide
  • Budget-friendly
  • Suited for beginners; easy and ready to apply
  • Best for temporary looks
  • Easy-to-rinse residues

Cons

  • Not for people who are into permanent hair colors
  • Strong smell

Now it’s your turn to give lavender a try!

To say that blondes or brunettes have more fun is outdated. It’s the crazy colored hair girls that have the most fun. If you want to step up your hair coloring game, give lavender a try. Whether you’re aiming for that ombre, balayage or perhaps tıp-toeing into subtle highlights, there’s bound to be a great lavender hair look waiting for you!

  1. Hi,

Did you use lavender personally? I want to hear your personal brand for lavender. I want to use for the first time but confused.

  2. Please can you point out that a huge bonus for Adore hair colours is that they are vegan. L’Oreal still tests on animals.

I’ve used lots of rainbow colours from different vegan companies like Directions and Manic Panic and can confirm that Adore is one of the best despite being one of the cheapest. An easy to apply liquid with a pleasant smell which gives shine and condition.
